Description

Sausage French Toast Roll-Ups are a delicious breakfast treat consisting of cooked sausage links wrapped in sweet and fluffy French toast, perfect for dipping in syrup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 breakfast sausage links
  • 8 slices white or whole wheat bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 120 ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
  • Maple syrup, to serve

Instructions

  1. Take off the crusts from each slice of bread. Use a rolling pin to gently flatten them out.
  2. Cook the breakfast sausage according to the instructions on the package. Once it’s cooked through, set it aside.
  3. Grab a shallow bowl and whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon until everything’s well blended.
  4. On one end of a flattened bread slice, put a sausage link. Roll it up tightly around the sausage. If needed, use a toothpick to hold it together. Do the same with the remaining slices and sausages.
  5. Dip each rolled-up piece into the egg mixture, making sure it’s fully covered.
  6. Heat butter in a skillet on medium. Add the roll-ups and cook them, turning until they’re golden brown on all sides, which will take about 3 to 4 minutes. Take out any toothpicks used.
  7. Put the roll-ups on plates. Drizzle with maple syrup and sprinkle with powdered sugar if you like. Enjoy them warm.

Notes

  • Feel free to use different types of bread for added flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of cinnamon and vanilla extract according to personal taste.
  • These roll-ups can be made ahead of time and reheated.
