Description

A delicious and hearty Dorito meatloaf casserole bake that combines the flavors of ground beef, Italian sausage, and a creamy filling topped with crushed Doritos and melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 450 g extra lean ground beef
  • 450 g Italian pork sausage, casings removed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 80 ml whole milk
  • 2 cups (approximately 90 g) crushed Doritos
  • 225 g cream cheese, softened
  • 28 g ranch dressing seasoning mix
  • 15 ml whole milk
  • 1 cup (130 g) diced green bell pepper
  • 3 cups (340 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup (45 g) crushed Doritos, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C. Coat a 23 x 33 cm baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Combine ground beef, Italian sausage, eggs, 80 ml milk, and 2 cups crushed Doritos in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly by hand until evenly incorporated.
  3. Press half of the meat mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. Blend softened cream cheese, ranch dressing mix, and 15 ml milk with an electric mixer until smooth.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the first meat layer.
  6. Scatter diced green bell pepper over the cream cheese layer. Top with half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Press the remaining meat mixture gently over the cheese and vegetable layers to cover completely.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and the final cup of crushed Doritos over the casserole.
  10. Bake an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Remove from oven. Let rest for several minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of ranch dressing seasoning mix to taste.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like onions or corn for added flavor and nutrition.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and baked later.
