Description

A creamy and delicious Brussels sprouts casserole topped with bacon and cheese, perfect for a comforting side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (or 4 tablespoons of Real Bacon Bits)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 shallots, minced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 lb Brussels sprouts, cleaned and halved
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp mustard powder
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup sharp white cheddar, shredded
  • ½ cup Gruyere cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 F.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat and saute the shallots and garlic for 30 seconds.
  3. Add the halved Brussels sprouts and cook until tender, about 10 minutes.
  4. Season with salt, freshly ground pepper, cayenne, and mustard powder. Mix in the heavy cream.
  5. Transfer to a baking dish and sprinkle the crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar, and Gruyere cheese on top.
  6. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the cheeses are melted and golden brown.

Notes

  • Feel free to substitute bacon with a vegetarian option if desired.
  • For a crunchier topping, broil for an additional 1-2 minutes at the end of baking.
