Description

Deliciously moist banana bread brownies topped with rich brown butter frosting, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1¾ cups ripe bananas (34 bananas)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • ½ cup butter (for frosting)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1½ tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 3 Tbsp milk (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 15×10″ pan.
  2. In a large bowl, beat sugar, sour cream, butter, and eggs until creamy.
  3. Mix in mashed bananas and vanilla.
  4. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Blend well. Stir in walnuts if using.
  5. Pour into pan and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  6. For frosting: brown the butter in a saucepan. Remove from heat.
  7. Stir in powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  8. Spread frosting over warm bars. Cool, slice, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure bananas are ripe for the best flavor.
  • For a nuttier flavor, toast the walnuts before adding.
  • Bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
