Deliciously moist banana bread brownies topped with rich brown butter frosting, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients

- 1½ cups sugar
- 1 cup sour cream
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1¾ cups ripe bananas (3–4 bananas)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¾ tsp salt
- ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- ½ cup butter (for frosting)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 3 Tbsp milk (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 15×10″ pan.
- In a large bowl, beat sugar, sour cream, butter, and eggs until creamy.
- Mix in mashed bananas and vanilla.
- Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Blend well. Stir in walnuts if using.
- Pour into pan and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden.
- For frosting: brown the butter in a saucepan. Remove from heat.
- Stir in powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
- Spread frosting over warm bars. Cool, slice, and enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure bananas are ripe for the best flavor.
- For a nuttier flavor, toast the walnuts before adding.
- Bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
